"This kind of came out of nowhere," Lil Jon told The Associated Press his new venture, Little Jonathan vineyard. "We are just going to do some things private label (for participants), and we did it, and people were like,` Hey, it is very good. "
Lil Jon acknowledges that he is not a connoisseur of wines. "I did not` do not drink wine every day "kind of dude," he said in a telephone interview. "I did not want an expert, so do not ask me no questions ... I just wanted to taste."
And he knows what he likes, including white wine and dessert wines (winemaker Alison Crowe responsible for the label in California).
Little Jonathan vineyard Lil Jon is not the first venture drinks on the market: He launched Crunk! Energy Drink a few years ago: In concoction takes its name from the rap style he made famous. But he handles his business in the wine with a more serious approach, and that is why he decided to use his stage name for the label.
"My full name Jonathan, in Atlanta, said artist based. "Wine is a character: I would not only have a direct connection, but also make it just a little more upscale than regular" Lil Jon. "... This is not a ghetto no farms in Boone, it is some real wine."
Lil Jon more time on his hands these days for wine and other enterprises: While he continues to produce hits, it was not released album since 2004 in the best-selling "Crunk Juice" with the Eastside Boyz. It may be a bit higher before fans hear new music, as well as his label, TVT Records, the recently bankrupt.
Lil Jon said he plays album ready to go - it is simply waiting for the situation to resolve itself TVT.
"I want it as soon as possible, but TVT is to figure out their business, and that against all that I can say," he said with a laugh.
